Bitcoin Beach lists Peterson as a co-founder. He is the author of the project's whitepaper, published under the handle hunicus, which reprints the 2019 letter he wrote after meeting the advisor to an early Bitcoin holder who wanted the money spent on something that changed lives. The letter proposed spending it in one isolated coastal village rather than distributing it widely, on the argument that a targeted injection could change the trajectory of a whole community and that cash transfers reach people more efficiently than complicated aid programmes.
The document he wrote later, describing what he calls BUBBLEs, is an attempt to generalise the approach for others: solve a real local need first, keep it bitcoin-only, and get merchants and wages moving in the same currency. Forbes reported in September 2025 that the model had spread through a fellowship connecting leaders of dozens of similar projects. Hermann Vivier of Bitcoin Ekasi credits a 2019 interview with Peterson as the origin of that project.
