Bitcoin Beach lists Martinez, known publicly as Chimbera, as a co-founder. His published speaking biography describes him as a community leader from El Zonte with a long connection to the town's surf culture and tourism, and credits him as a central figure in building the Bitcoin community in El Salvador. It also records that in 2021 he co-founded Goodlife El Salvador.
He is the part of the project that is hardest to replicate and easiest to underrate. The merchant side of a circular economy is not a technical problem: someone has to sit with a shop owner who has never held bitcoin, explain what happens when the price moves, and be there the next week when something goes wrong. Forbes reported in September 2025 that the model had spread into a network of similar projects, and Martinez has spent much of the intervening period speaking about it and advising other communities.
