Steve Myers is President of the Bitcoin Dev Kit Foundation and one of its five board directors. Board positions at the Foundation are unpaid and volunteer, and directors are described as long-time contributors and supporters of the BDK project.
He co-authored the project's first public quarterly update in February 2024, which set out
where BDK stood after four years: a core suite of Rust libraries wrapped in bdk-ffi
bindings for Kotlin, Swift and Python, in the middle of a re-architecture aimed at a stable
1.0 API. That post is also where the project explained its funding history openly, crediting
Spiral with four years of support and acknowledging an OpenSats grant received in 2023, and
committed to publishing quarterly progress on its own blog rather than a sponsor's.
The Foundation he presides over is a United States 501(c)(6) non-profit that requires everything it funds to be released as free and open source, and whose members include Spiral, OpenSats, AnchorWatch, the Proton Foundation and mempool.space.
