BitGo

A New York Stock Exchange listed digital asset custodian whose trust subsidiaries hold client coins in segregated accounts, and which helped commercialise multisignature wallets.

Where it came from

BitGo Holdings, Inc. is a Delaware corporation with offices in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and commission file number 001-43057. Its annual report for 2025 dates the business to 2013 and describes the founding product plainly: the company was, in its own words, "one of the first to commercially introduce multi-sig wallet technology".

That is the part worth understanding. A multisignature wallet splits spending authority across several keys, so a custodian holding one key cannot move a client's coins alone and a client who loses one key is not wiped out. BitGo built a business on selling that arrangement to institutions rather than to individuals.

What it built

The filing separates self-custody wallet software from regulated custody. The regulated side runs through the BitGo Trust Companies: BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, BitGo New York Trust Company LLC and BitGo Custody MENA FZE. Client assets there sit in segregated accounts, and the company states it does "not trade against, lend against, or rehypothecate client assets". BitGo Prime, launched in 2020, added trading, borrowing and lending on top of the custody layer.

Two regulatory facts are worth stating exactly. BitGo New York Trust Company, LLC has held a New York limited purpose trust charter since March 2021, per the New York Department of Financial Services. And on 12 December 2025 the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency conditionally approved the conversion of BitGo's state trust company into a national trust bank, BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association.

Where it is now

The company listed. Its class A common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol BTGO on 22 January 2026. As of 31 December 2025 the annual report gives approximately $81.6 billion in what BitGo calls Assets on Platform, over 5,320 clients and support for more than 1,770 digital assets. Listing here is not endorsement.
