The publication and the company are two different things, and the entry covers both because the second now owns the first.
Bitcoin Magazine's own about page states that Mihai Alisie and Vitalik Buterin, later the creator of Ethereum, published the first issue in May 2012, joined forces with Coin Publishing LLC in Orlando to produce 22 issues, and that BTC Media acquired the title in late 2014. It is owned today by BTC Media LLC, described as the media and publishing subsidiary of BTC Inc. BTC Inc's own about page says BTC Media was founded in 2013 by David Bailey.
BTC Inc grew from a magazine into an events company. Its brands include the Bitcoin Conference series, which it says drew more than 67,000 attendees in 2025, along with Bitcoin for Corporations and a museum brand. On 7 November 2025 the company announced Brandon Green, who had been managing director, chief of staff and head of events since 2017, as chief executive, with Bailey stepping down as chief executive and staying on as chairman of the board.
On 20 February 2026 Nakamoto Inc, listed on Nasdaq as NAKA and chaired by Bailey, completed the acquisition of BTC Inc and of UTXO Management. The all-stock deal was reported by Bitcoin Magazine itself at 0.248. That is why the status here reads Acquired: the magazine still publishes daily, but it is now inside a public company that also holds bitcoin on its balance sheet and runs an asset management arm. Readers should weigh coverage of Nakamoto, of its holdings, and of companies advised by UTXO with that ownership in view.
