Hut 8's 2026 proxy statement sets out the sequence: "Mr. Genoot has served as our Chief Executive Officer since February 2024, previously serving as our President since the consummation of the Business Combination. He has also been a director of Hut 8 since the consummation of the Business Combination. Mr. Genoot previously served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and director of USBTC from its inception in December 2020 until the consummation of the Business Combination."
USBTC, formally U.S. Data Mining Group, Inc., merged with the Toronto-listed Hut 8 Mining Corp. on 30 November 2023 to create the Delaware company he now runs. The same proxy records that he has served as Executive Chairman of American Bitcoin Corp. since September 2025 and as a director of it since March 2025, that he founded and ran a Shanghai-based education company called Curio between 2016 and 2019, that he was Managing Director at the brand incubator Flagship Endeavors from 2019 to 2020, and that he graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He signed the company's 2025 Form 10-K as principal executive officer.
