By using WeAreBitcoin.org you agree to these terms. They are short because the site is simple: we publish things, and you read them.

1. What this site is

WeAreBitcoin.org is a publication. It has three parts:

• Learn, evergreen explanations, guides and deep dives about Bitcoin.
• News, dated coverage of the industry, each post citing a primary document.
• Projects and People, a directory of the organisations that build, fund and govern Bitcoin, and profiles of people those entries reference.

There is also an optional newsletter. That is all. We do not run a marketplace, we do not host user accounts, and nothing here accepts contributions from readers.

2. Using what we publish

Our own writing and illustrations are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. You may copy it, republish it, translate it and build on it, including commercially, as long as you credit WeAreBitcoin.org and license what you make from it under the same terms.

Three things are not ours to license and are excluded:

• material we quote from somewhere else, which remains its author's;
• third-party names, logos and trade marks, which appear only to identify the organisation they belong to;
• the WeAreBitcoin name and logo.

The source code of this site is MIT-licensed but is not currently published, so please do not describe the site as open source.

3. Accuracy, corrections and what this is not

We cite a primary source for factual claims and state the limits of a claim next to it. We still get things wrong. When we do, we correct the post in place and mark the correction rather than editing it away quietly. If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice. Nobody writing for this site is licensed to advise you, and nothing is written as though they were. Decisions about your own money are yours.

A listing in the directory is not an endorsement, and the absence of a flag on an entry is not a defence of anyone. Entries record what we could source. Where a court or a regulator has made a finding, the entry says so and names the document.

4. Sponsored content

Some posts and placements are paid for. Every one of them is labelled as such at the top of the page and in any listing that shows it, and sponsored links carry rel="sponsored". Sponsorship does not buy a directory entry, the removal of anything from one, or coverage in the news section. The full terms are on the sponsors page.

5. The newsletter

Subscribing is double opt-in: you get one email asking you to confirm, and nothing else unless you do. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. What we store and why is in the privacy policy.

6. No warranty, and what we are not liable for

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete, and we do not warrant that any particular fact on it is current.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, from reliance on anything published here, or from anything on a third-party site we link to. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

7. Links to other sites

We link to primary sources constantly, which means we link off this site constantly. We do not control those pages, we are not responsible for what they say or do, and a link is not an endorsement.

8. Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and the current version is always the one on this page.
