Dorsey signed Block's annual report for the year ended 31 December 2025, filed on 26 February 2026, as "Block Head and Chairperson (Principal Executive Officer)". Block Head is the company's own title for the role, adopted with the rename from Square, Inc. to Block, Inc. in December 2021.
The same filing records a second fact about his position that a reader should have. Block has a dual class share structure in which Class B shares carry ten votes and Class A shares carry one, and it names Dorsey as the company's controlling shareholder for the purposes of the agreements governing Square Financial Services, its Utah industrial bank. That means control of the company does not follow from economic ownership alone.
Under his tenure the company built out a bitcoin line that is now a reported revenue category: Cash App trading, the Bitkey hardware wallet, the Proto mining systems business, and Spiral, the team it funds to work on Bitcoin open source.
