This is the name Bisq publishes his work under, and it is the only claim this entry makes about who he is. No attempt is made here to look past it.
Under that name he founded the project as Bitsquare, and wrote the announcement of its rename on 6 March 2017: "we started rebranding as a result of trademark conflicts." He led development through the design and construction of the Bisq DAO, the governance layer that replaced him.
On 16 May 2019, a month after the DAO went live on Bitcoin mainnet, he published his exit. He wrote that he would "step back from all my roles and activities in Bisq (beside a few trivial ones like running a Bitcoin node)", and that a gradual handover had been abandoned in favour of a clean break: "I need to make a hard cut, otherwise it would get delayed indefinitely."
The project's own launch post recorded the structural consequence: "The Bisq founder role has been dissolved." Bisq has been governed by its stakeholders since.
