Bitfury's own team page lists him under both Board of Directors and Executive Management with the title "CEO, Co-founder, Chairman". Company boilerplate filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in 2021 dates the group to 2011.
The corporate record names him in a longer form. A Schedule 13D/A filed in April 2022 in respect of Cipher Mining Inc. gives the ownership chain and states that "Valerijs Vavilovs is the sole owner of V3, which is the majority owner of BGL", where V3 Holding Limited is organised in the Cayman Islands and Bitfury Group Limited in England and Wales. Bitfury Group Limited in turn owns Bitfury Top HoldCo B.V. of the Netherlands, which held approximately 82% of Cipher Mining at the time.
He appears in the Canadian record too. An April 2021 press release filed with the SEC identifies him as a joint actor with Bitfury Holding BV in its holding of Hut 8 Mining Corp. shares on the TSX Venture Exchange. His public role has since shifted with the company's, from mining hardware and infrastructure toward investment and incubation.
