SatoshiLabs tells its founding story as a meeting: "Pavol and Marek meet at the Prague hackerspace brmlab in 2011 and the story of SatoshiLabs begins." Marek Palatinus, who uses the handle Slush alongside his own name, is the Marek in that sentence.
SatoshiLabs' own innovation list credits him with Slush Pool, described there as "the first bitcoin mining pool", which changed how small miners participated in the network by letting them share work and split rewards rather than compete alone for whole blocks.
He is a co-founder of the company that shipped the first Bitcoin hardware wallet in 2014. He is quoted in SatoshiLabs group announcements as of 2026 as "Co-founder of Tropic Square and SatoshiLabs Group", the chip design business the group spun up to make secure elements whose designs can be inspected rather than taken on trust.
