Pavol Rusnák, who uses the handle Stick alongside his own name, is the Pavol in SatoshiLabs' account of its own origin: "Pavol and Marek meet at brmlab hackerspace Prague in 2011 and the story of SatoshiLabs begins." SatoshiLabs' site poses the same question as a heading, "How did Stick and Slush start this entire thing?"
He was a co-founder of the company that shipped the first Bitcoin hardware wallet, and the technical work behind it produced standards rather than only a product. SatoshiLabs lists BIP39 and BIP44 among its innovations, describing them as "industry-wide standards for improved HW wallet usability, security, and user experience", and counts more than 25 BIPs and SLIPs to the group's name.
Those standards are the reason a recovery phrase written down for one vendor's device restores on another's.
