Which entity you are looking at
Bitmain is a group, not a single company, and the pieces sit in different places. The holding company at the top is BitMain Technologies Holding Company, a Cayman Islands company registered at PO Box 309, Ugland House, Grand Cayman, which appears in a Schedule 13G filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in March 2024 as the sole owner of a British Virgin Islands vehicle holding shares in the mining firm BitFuFu. Operating companies carry their own names in their own jurisdictions: Hut 8's 2025 Form 10-K refers separately to BITMAIN Technologies Ltd. as the manufacturer and to Bitmain Technologies Georgia Limited as the counterparty on a US hosting contract. Bitmain's own site gives Beijing as its headquarters and lists research offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore.
What it makes
The company dates itself precisely. Its history page records that in 2013 "BITMAIN was founded, and the company's first BTC miner, ANTMINER S1, was mass-produced and delivered to customers", and describes itself as "the world's leading manufacturer of digital currency mining servers through its brand ANTMINER". Antminer is the product line that the rest of the industry buys: the S9 in 2016, the S17 in 2019, the S19 in 2020, the S21 in 2023, the S23 Hyd. in 2025. Two well-known Bitcoin services began inside Bitmain and were separated from it: BTC.com, spun off in January 2021, and the mining pool Antpool, spun off in May 2021, both dated on Bitmain's own page.
Private, and staying that way
Bitmain is not listed on any exchange. It tried once. A Bloomberg report carried on 26 March 2019 said the company's Hong Kong listing application, filed the previous September, had expired that Tuesday, and named Haichao Wang as incoming chief executive with co-founders Micree Zhan and Jihan Wu remaining directors. The Hong Kong exchange classifies expired application documents as inactive and no longer serves them, so the filing's own contents cannot be checked here. Bitmain's ownership, revenue and shipment volumes are therefore undocumented in any record this directory can verify. Listing here is not endorsement.
